Blue Cupids at Kimber Lane Chinatown |
Ahh, also one unique thing to see when you’re in Dixon street is
“The Glowing Blue Cupids of Chinatown”. At first I was rather confused…
Why is it there and what’s the meaning behind it? After a little research, it
appears that The
artwork is the creation of 34 year old artist Jason Wing who is of Chinese and
Aboriginal descent. The reason why he used blue lighting was because he thought
that there were too much red and yellow in Chinatown, so he made it blue, to
make it contrast and more appealing. The meaning behind the artwork is that he
wanted to make an experience like waking in between two worlds or travelling
between heaven and earth. Ohh well, nevertheless it is still an awesome thing
to look at, and pretty unique.
So there you go…. If you really enjoy being in a lively and
colorful environment, you should definitely check out Dixon street in Chinatown
on Friday and Saturday night, around 4pm to 11pm.
