Sydney Opera House and the upcoming Vivid Sydney Festival

Sydney Opera House was formally recognised as one of the most outstanding places on Earth with its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List under the World Heritage Convention on 28 June 2007.
Sydney Opera House was officially opened in October 1973.

In its short lifetime, Sydney Opera House has earned a reputation as a world-class performing arts centre and become a symbol of both Sydney and the Australian nation.

Stage 2 nears completion
It's  a masterpiece of late modern architecture. It is admired internationally and proudly treasured by the people of Australia. It was created by a young architect who understood and recognised the potential provided by the site against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Denmark’s Jørn Utzon gave Australia a challenging, graceful piece of urban sculpture in patterned tiles, glistening in the sunlight and invitingly aglow at night. Jorn Utzon died in Copenhagen in November 2008 aged 90.

How go get to Sydney Opera House?

Take the City Circle train from Central Station, get off at Circular Quay Station. You can see the Opera House on the right hand side of the station, it's so enormous you can't miss it !
The left hand side of the Circular Quay station is the rocks area, where lots of bars and unique cuisines are located. The museum of contemporary art is also on the left hand side of the quay, take an advantage of the free entry.
