Taronga Zoo is the city zoo of SydneyNew South WalesAustralia and is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour in the suburb of MosmanDivided into eight zoo geographic regions, the 21-hectare (52-acre) Taronga Zoo is home to over 2,600 animals of 340 species. It has a zoo shop, a cafe, and information center.



Situated on spectacular Sydney Harbour, Taronga Zoo is an experience not to be missed. Located just 12 minutes from the city by ferry, Taronga Zoo offers up to 20 free keeper talks and animal shows throughout the day. The Sky Safari cable car connects the ferry to the main entrance. 

Taronga Zoo is home to thousands of exotic and native species including native animals such as Kangaroos, Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Platypus, Wombats, Wallabies, Quokkas, Emus and Crocodiles. Exotic species include rare Western Lowland Gorillas, Sumatran Tigers, Snow Leopards, Sun Bears, Chimpanzees, Giraffes, Zebras, Thai Asian Elephants.

By Ferry (best way): A 12-minute ferry ride from Wharf 2, Circular Quay
By Bus: Bus 247 departs from Wynyard bus station to and from the Zoo's Main Entrance daily - a 30 minute one way trip.
By Car: Parking is available for 120 cars (temporary). A fee applies.
